Have the Business You WANT

February 1, 2019 By Rita Coco

Are you sacrificing too much as a business owner?

There comes a time when business owners discover that their personal and professional lives are at opposite ends of a constantly moving seesaw – and they don’t like the feeling. They are experiencing ups and downs. They are sacrificing Money-for-Time or Time-for-Money. Maybe you are also sacrificing too much?

  • You have a business that is making money, but you don’t have time for your family.
  • You have time for family, but your business is not making the money it could.
  • You are putting huge amounts of time in your business, but the money doesn’t show it.
  • You have a seasonal business. Off-season you have loads of time but less money; during your busy season you are making money, but no time to enjoy it.

Welcome to the MONEY-TIME seesaw; when one end is up, the other is down.

You either have Money or Time – but not both.

Why you don’t have the business you WANT.

You may think that making more money and having more time is wishful thinking – a condition only for the very few, lucky business owners. So, you consider settling for a balanced seesaw – having some money and some time. There are business owners who do achieve this ‘balance’; they purposely stay small when they really want to be BIG. They settle on having more time for family life by limiting customers and jobs which reduces income. Then there are owners who choose to wait to have the life they want until they get the business to bring in the money needed to maintain that lifestyle. Their families agree to this sacrifice, but usually, and up to, a point.

Make more MONEY. Have more TIME.

The real solution is to get off the seesaw altogether. You want to increase your money (revenue, income, profits) and have more time for you, your family, and friends. You don’t have to settle for either more money OR more time; you can increase both simultaneously. What’s the secret? Change your belief that having a great business comes with sacrifice. If you live within this limiting belief, you will continue to straddle the Money-Time seesaw. Relinquish the limiting belief. Replace it with the belief that you can have both Money and Time.

“Small shifts in your thinking, and small changes in your energy,                                                               can lead to massive alterations of your end result.”                                                           Kevin Michel, Moving Through Parallel Worlds To Achieve Your Dreams

Embrace that you CAN have what you want.

At first, you will not believe you have this limiting belief. But upon reflection and really being truthful with yourself, you may come to see that you must believe in the seesaw if you continue to straddle it. You will need to shift. Commit to embrace the belief that you can have what you want. Now, we are not naïve; we know you are doubtful that change will happen because you shifted just one belief. We ask you to make a commitment – on faith. Embrace this new belief. Follow-through with your commitment. The rest is out of your hands.

See amazing results in your business and in your life!

Soon, results start to show up in your business and personal life. You begin to have:

  • more freedom to choose,
  • more income, and
  • more time away from the business – without repercussions.

This may not happen in one month. Remember that you have been seesawing for quite some time. The more you live by your new belief, the more the subtle shifts happen over time and at the unobservable quantum level, until results of your new mindset shift breakthrough at a conscious level which you observe one flash at a time.

At last and somewhat in disbelief at first, the business owner acknowledges that he/she really ‘owns’ a business rather than the business ‘owning’ him/her. Each has established a new, healthy relationship with their business that does not include a sacrifice of either Time or Money. This new normal does not only happen to the owner; the shift imbeds itself into the company culture, at which time managers and staff begin to also reap the benefits of a playground without broken seesaws.

True Business Ownership (TBO) is a mindset with the belief that you can have the relationship you want with your business.
